Never Meant
You are the feeling I get when I can almost reach something, but not quite
You are a ceiling fan ever so high, that I know can cool me down on a hot summer’s day, but is just beyond my grasp
I am a child with stubby limbs
You are a beautiful doorbell that was expensively installed into the house you reside in
You emit wonderful music which conveys the message that company has arrived, and that good times are soon to be had
I am the one who carefully knocks
You are a painting with vibrant colors, artistically laid down with creativity and care
You luxuriously sit on a canvas with poise and power, letting all who see you have the opportunity to gasp in your presence
I am a sculptor
You are a crisp vinyl record, freshly pressed and scratchless and perfect
You've been loved by many, record store and owner alike
You produce a crisp, golden, analog sound that would make any collector squirm
I am a gently a gently used cassette deck
…
No matter if we were meant to spend our lives together or not, I will love you just the same

This poem is about something that you really want in life almost working out, but just not coming together the way you planned.
