Fatherless
Fatherless..
Never having father daughter days.
Never having father daughter dances.
Never having protection from boys.
Fatherless…
I see you with the young ones.
I see you care for them.
I see your love for them.
Fatherless…
What about my birthday?
Do you even think of me on this day?
What about holidays?
Do you even miss me during these times?
What about helping me with homework?
Fatherless…
What about my first tooth?
What about my first boyfriend?
What about you here, to protect me when I fall?
Fatherless..
I wouldn’t wish this feeling upon anyone.
My hurt is like a tree outside
When struck by lightning.
Crack! Crack! Crack!
Being Fatherless is no fun!!

My dad has never been really in my life, he left when i was two years old and never came back. I felt like speaking out in a poem would help me reveal some of the anger I had inside from all the years. When I say "What about the holidays?", "my birthday?", etc. I'm referring to the things he never cared to do with me. I'm 17 years old and still till this day he hasnt cared to see me on christmas, my birthday or even call to wish me a Merry Christmas or a Happy Birthday. I wouldnt trade my life for anything, my mom raised me as not only my mother figure but also as my father figure and that is why I am so strong and independent like I am today and I am today and i thank her for that.
