Wallflower
Oh, the things I'd tell you!
As if there was a limit to
what I would say;
like the way you joke
and how you smile,
or maybe just the
times we had shared
being students, classmates, together.
The way your head would tilt
to watch the words
move across your mind,
your still-moving hands
twisting and moving to
play with the thoughts
that ticked like clockwork.
And if I could say one thing
i think you'd run
and hide from me
because I'm a girl;
territory that is unknown.
You'd get freaked out
and press away to
unhear the words said,
the words I meant.
But the things Id tell you if I was brave,
if I wasn't silent
and, of course, worried
that it'd be awkward
and you'd stay away;
those sugar high smiles
made from your laugh
and shared for miles.
So don't ask me to repeat these things
because I'm not brave
and I am quiet.
Silently wishing that you
could read my eyes
and not be afraid
of what you would see:
desperation, dedication, hope, admiration;
a myriad of feelings
I would never tell.
