How to be Me
Get up before the sun
Jump out of bed
with the excitment that potential adventure brings.
Throw your hair in a messy bun
and get dressed as fast as you can.
Grab your pack that you readied the night before.
Run downstairs.
That is how to be me.
Load your gear and head out while the stars are still shining.
Eat the breakfast you packed along the way.
Blast music over the stereo and sing along.
Laugh with your friends as you drive.
That familiar bubbly feeling increacing with each mile.
That is how to be me.
Stand with your head out the sunrooof.
Roll down all the windows.
Watch the sun slowly rise over the mountain tops.
Shiver in the early morning fog,
bundle up even tighter.
That is how to be me.
Reach the trailhead before the rest of the world is even awake.
Walk that extra half mile to write your name in the snow feild.
Climb the walljust in case
there is an even better veiw of the world below.
Remember that each step you take
brings you a step closer than you have ever been.
That is how to be me.
Be proud of the fact that you are one of the few human beings
To have ever stood on the top of that mountain.
Leave the rest of the world behind.
Just for a moment let yourself believe
That you never have to come down.
Wish you could stay on that summit forever.
That is how to be me.
