Deep Sea Climber
The Deep Sea Climber is strange to be sure,
Always swimming just off shore.
Quite a sight for confused eyes,
Above moutains of coral he attempts to rise.
Ice pick in hand,
While palm trees wave from the land,
Never above the waves he goes,
And why? Only he knows.
Until a young girl in snorkel and mask
Chose to ask,
"Why do you carry a suba tank on your back?
Why not the hiker's backpack?"
"Because," said the climber, with eyes full of might,
"I'm afraid of hieghts."

A short poem inspired by the children's book, "Polka Bats and Octopus Slacks". Just written for fun.
