The worlds passing me by and I’m waiting to become a phoenix
I’m looking for something that won’t ever be
And if it were I’m not sure I could handle it.
With a final scream meant only for two, I’d fall
Lying cold and dead, my excitement would ignite
This body would fill with fire
Embers bleeding from my eyes
The ground glowing beneath me
Burning until the entire room filled with light.
If she responded well to this beacon
Came and peeled the charred skin from my bones
Her commitment would yield something ordinary
I’d look just as I had a few moments before
Only now with a rekindled pilot flame
Warmth radiating from within me
New, old desires.
The return of an ally lost long ago
That. and Happiness
