The Flower that Stood at the Edge of the River
I saw a flower that stood against the river.
It was a cold afternoon and sure I did shiver,
But I could not help but stare,
At the glorious beauty the flower did bare.
The river was rushing
And my cheeks started blushing,
For the cold wind nipped at my face.
However I didn’t mind,
For I was looking at Mother Nature’s beautiful grace.
Then the church bells started to chime
And that’s when I looked at the time.
I realized I would be late,
So I started walking at a steady rate.
My mind in a wondrous trance.
But for some strange reason I looked back for one more glance.
There I saw the flower.
The one that swayed ever so slightly in the breeze
And that immersed my body with peace and ease.
Then I returned to the path ahead of me
And there is where I started to see,
Why I felt so happy and free.
