Two Birds
High up on the highest tree,
Sat two birds singing together in harmony.
If you listen closely to what they say,
You can hear their desperate calls in dismay.
"My love, my love,
What has happened here?
The days are long,
My mind's unclear.
I cannot fly,
I cannot sleep.
My love, I am drowning in an ocean deep."
"Don't you worry darling,
The sky is blue and the grass is green,
You have everything else in between.
You have nothing to fret,
It's all in your head.
Hush my darling,
At least you're not dead."
"My love, my love,
What more can I do?
I am stuck in reverse,
My thoughts seem to disperse.
Help me my love,
I can't get out of this curse."
"Don't you worry my darling,
It's all in your head.
Haven't you heard a single word that I said?
For the sky is blue and the grass is green,
You have flown across the world,
There is nothing you haven't seen.
I will tell you this once.
I won't say this again.
Hush my darling,
At least you're not dead."
