"I'm not afraid to walk this world alone." -My Chemical Romance

if i killed you in your sleep

rest assured

i'd make sure it wouldn't hurt

because i would close the door

behind me

and that's such a thing that's killed me

many times

and a door standing open

haunting

daring

taunting

staring

is scaring while i lie

with wide eyes and closed fists

wrapped around a joint

still smoking

and i'd always open the window

to let the ashes drop

and i'd drop, too

to the ground through an open door

and wind up still watching you sleep

from the door that never closed

so close your eyes

and dream of things that end

and strings that snap

and rings that break

and know that the door is closed

when i finish you off

The author's comments:

This piece features a person scared of things that do not end, perhaps the idea of heaven or infinity, and is, according to your opinion, trying to kill that fear, or a person close to them because they seem to never end. The fact that the poem has no periods or capitalizations makes it never end, something the narrator would have been frightened by.
