The bridge spans the turbulent water

Reaching across the universe of time,

Longing for a purpose greater than its worth.

I drown in this river,

like a rock in the ocean,

I am the island of peace in a land of terror.

The bridge spans the turbulent water

I feel desperation filling my heart,

the fear of death creeping into my mind,

causing my struggling limbs to move with increasing rapidy

The water seems to slowly congeal

as my arms and legs begin to lose strength.

I atempt to eschew the sharp jutting rocks,

the current so insatiable I eventually submit to its might

I reach up for this bridge,

like tree branches caressing heaven,

like a baby reaching for it's mother,

I extend my hand tall and high,

but the bridge fades away.

I begin to fly...

I am an angel, ascending to the sky.

I was imagining a person drowning, after seeing a story on the news.
