Time and Change
Do you remember how we used to be?
Sitting on the rooftops together overlooking the city.
We did it because we were young,
We did it because it was a declaration of power,
We did it because we understood each other.
But there came a time when we moved on,
And then, we learned to understand ourselves.
We thought nothing of the rooftops,
We forgot about the sense of power,
And, worst of all, we joined the people on the ground.
Dethroned by the common standards,
We lost sight of our ideals,
And you could say that we lost our cool.
In its place, we gained the world,
Yet, unbeknownst to us, more was lost than gained.
So here we are, a world apart,
Yet every now and then I think of you,
And the rooftops come to mind,
And I relive the powerful feeling of complete trust,
But I know that we’re much different now.
