The game of life
It seems quite easy, until it's your turn
It's make it or break it; life or death
If you win you still live
If you lose, you die a shameful death
My dad always said you drive for show
Your game displayed for the world to see
Then at last you putt for dough
With energy still running through your body, you think you will win it for the final turn
But for me it's harder than that
Once I hit it there's no turning back
The mallet is swung, motion is set
It touches the ground, rolls, rolls, rolling
It breaks as planned
Time slows down, feet roll off
It's kinetic energy slows, the air in my lungs goes
Then it drops in the hole
The crowd erupts, relief floods into my system
I made it, I won the game, lived, survived, until the next game to come
For the game of Golf
