I’m from that one place called North Hayward
where death is not racist
and the police are corrupt

Where you’re judged by the colors blue and red
and the only hobbies are smoking
drinking and joining gangs and pulling licks
but some do it for the need and
i guess some do it for free
Where the dropout rate is
higher than the graduation rate
where death by the gun is common
where the struggle started
where all my memories stay
I’m from where the red white and blue
flashing behind you is not the meaning of freedom.

Hi! I read this in this month's article and when I read the last part, I literally GASPED. I can't directly relate to this poem, but I appreciate it a lot. You're very talented.
