The Prescription
The Prescription
By: Will Farlow
Breathing, but breathless.
Living, yet lifeless.
All was gone.
Thoughts flood my mind.
These fiends crushing my every meaningless breath
Memories, rendering me immobile
One bottle, then another, and another
Vicious creatures crippling my every movement
It is the enemy.
It is the aggressor.
It was a shelter
And a single hope.
How long can it haunt me?
How much can I take?
Seeking refuge in unrealistic saviors
Coming to the conclusion there is no solution
There is no fixing the heartache.
Finding momentary relief
One bottle, then another, and another
Finally, the prescription was clear.
“repeat until happiness fills the body”
Pain exits rapidly
Body goes numb
Sirens, doctors voices fading in and out
A lifeless hull is seen laying in a casket.
Friends and family crying, wheeping
All goes white
Happiness fills my body.
I’m dead now but alive and well.
It. Is. Over.
I. Am. Happy.
