Name of The Game
Name of The Game
It’s funny to think.
When the blur slows down
When you can stop and see
How far you are now
From where you thought
Striving so desperately to achieve
To be the best of the best
That is the name of the game.
Life-fulfillment advertised everywhere
A product of worldly success
It’s been laid out
Do it right – work hard
Never be mediocre.
Meet the requirements.
Make the cut.
You didn’t choose to play
But you know you can’t lose.
How little sense it makes
Lifetimes spent entirely
Chasing thin sheets of paper
And it’s funny.
What was so potentially simple
Now’s so unintentionally complicated
But things are moving too fast
Too late to change directions
It’s the name of the game.
