Depression is his drug

Depression is like a drug.

It consumes you.

It makes you feel like there are only two things in the world.

You and it.

It gives you feeling.

It gives you faith for just a brief second.

Then it tears you back down.

You can get help,

You just don't want it.

When someone tries to help,

You reject them.

Because deep down,

You don't want to be better.

You love taking the edge off

With the blade to your wrist.

Watching the drips of blood,

Crash on your bathroom sink.

You fade away,

In your own little world of" feel good".

And when you come back to the yelling and name calling,

You would rather die than see your own graduation.

You would rather die,

Then stand up and not cower under their power.

And it's in those moments that you are brought down.

The constant suicide attempts,

The sleeping and drowsiness of just waking up,

And knowing you're alive,

The pills.

Nothing can help you,

But you.

When you see the beauty in every little thing,

That's how you know you can survive the worst.

My friend always says nobody can help him.  If I can get through the suicide attempts then he can too.
