Childhood
I come from playtime,
From dipping Oreos in my milk
Then crying when it spills,
From giggles and fun
Under the sun

I come from a big purple dinosaur
And a curios blue puppy
From the wiggles who set my friendship goals
To the highest standard,
From tellitubies which was confusing and amusing

I come from the outdoors,
From building sand castles
Just to tear them down.
From jump rope to hopscotch
And the occasional hide and go seek with friends

I come from Ronald mcdonald
And a monster that loved cookies
And not vegetables.

I come from a time where there were no worries
And now I am in a time where worrying is a usual thing.
I come from times where we could play outside
Without worrying about someone coming and
Snatching us up to now living in constant fear of what could happen next.
I came from a time where parents stayed together
now which the divorce rate is 85%.

I want what I used to come from and not where I am
I come from a place where the twin towers stood tall.
Where now the two bear spots are a constant reminder
Of the tragedy that happened on 9/11

I want to go back and live when times were simple
To know everything is so complicated
Where I come from is much different from where I am  now
Times are supposed to change for better… not for worst
