A Night At Boyne
“I see you!”
Running up and down the big hotel
Playing a game of hide and seek
“Paige and Kyle it’s your turn to count.”
Sitting there talking and counting
Not a care in the world
RING RING
“Hello.”
It’s my mom
“Paige is everything okay?”
She says frantically
Yes. What is she talking about?
“Be careful. I love you”
“He sounds drunk. He’s coming to pick us up.”
Reese tells the group
Getting off the phone with Chris.
We knew it wasn’t a good idea
We should just walk instead.
Kyle calls his dad,
“Stay where you are.
You need to wait for Chris.
Me and your mom will meet you at home
Tomorrow.”
Kyle asks “Dad what’s going on?”
“Don’t worry about it.”
We all just stare at eachother
Fear taking over
Each and every one of our bodies
Chris calls once more,
“Meet me on the path
I will pick you up there
Dont talk to anyone.”
We walk together in a pack
Through the dark and silent trail
The crushing of the crisp snow
Beneath our feet
And the whispers of Nick’s worries
Thats all you could here
Heavy fear fills the air
“Guys, im over here.”
A soft whisper
coming from the trees
It’s Chris
“Do not talk.
Do not look at anyone.
Do not talk to anyone.
Just keep walking.”
Chris tells us quietly
The heavy fear
Sitting on our shoulders
Becomes 10x heavier
In about .1 of a second
Nick holds my hand
Squeezing tighter
And tighter
As people pass
And time goes on
We finally reach the condo
After what felt like a never ending night
The condo still,
silent and dark
“Get to bed you shouldn't be up.”
Chris tells us
No explanation
Laying clueless of the night
The room is suddenly lit up
Blue and red lights fill the tense room
BANG BANG BANG
The loud knocks startle us
What is going on?
“Sir is your wife here?”
Says and angry cop
“Yes.”
Chris replies
“Can I talk to her?”
“Absolutely not.”
The door slams shut
Sending shivers over our entire bodies
Chris walks into our room
“Go to bed guys,
You shouldn't be up.”
