Words are glass shards
Piercing your vulnerable skin
Words are the first sip of water
After days in the blistering sun
They are broken bones
and helpful hands
Words will throw you down
Kick you
Beat you
Words will shield you from the world
Hold you
Comfort you
Words are your greatest enemy
and your strongest ally
Words are your most powerful weapon
In a world full of cruel authors
And unhappy endings
