She grows
The First Day
At first she was a wrinkly pink ball wrapped in blankets
Only opening her eyes every few minutes
Then she began to smile
and everyone in the room got quiet
even the short, stubby nurse
3 Months
Fast forward a little
Her round eyes are as big as saucers now
Cat claws for nails dig into my shirt
Everytime I hold her
6 months
She sits up now
Gazing at people
Slob runs like a river
From her mouth
to her hands
down her arms
and onto me.
9 months
She sits in her chair
Munching on baby puffs
Whining slightly about her teeth
Pearly whites that were suddenly there
Protruding from her gums
And she gnaws on fingers, icy rings, and toes
Now
She takes a step
Wobbling like a jenga tower
Swinging her head around to look at us
Before collapsing
Silence.
And then cheering
Her frown turns into a smile
Showing off the family gap proudly
She is our light
Our love
Our alarm clock
She is LoganShe Grows

I wrote this piece about my neice Logan. I remeber being so excited she was born and now she has grown up so fast.
