Butterfly

Gossamer wings,
Flitting and floating,
Falling with the wind,
On a spring breeze.
Edges jagged and sharp,
Blue gossamer wings,
Edges deep red of a dusky rose,
Blood staining the air,
A light pink.
Somewhere,
A butterfly is dead.
Black body lying in a bed,
Of blue flowers,
A dead body in the sea.
A purple shimmer,
Sheen of blood,
Where wings are supposed to be.
Eyes glazed with death.
Soul floating up high,
A butterfly is dead.
