I am from narrow visions
From storms and infernal heat from a luminous star
I am nothing but a flicker of light in an ocean of darkness
From the womb of a perspicacious woman
I am from a neighborhood that reveres no one but its own
And born to a catholic family whose religion I don’t uphold

From religion and belief without question
To science and nonconformity
From being an only child and fatherless
To being a big brother and motherless

I am from parents both knowledgeable in the English lexicon
From parents that divorced, but remained friends
I am from a father who lived music and nocturnal band performances
From a mother who embodied literature and the pursuit for knowledge
I am from a place called the mirror
And the entity in the reflection can never be conquered

I am invictus.

This poem is about where I am from. It's quite heartfelt and actually based on my personal experiences.
