Friends are a gift from God

A friend is a gift from God
A heavy burden for most.
He has a sense of comradeship,
with a little fellowship.
Soon hearts will break,
tears shall roll,
nothing can stop this when a cold war outbreaks.
Solemn days shan't stay,
as soothing tones of his voice,
shall whisper in my ears,
keeping my painful heart warm.
Soon I sleep for weeks,
The wind kissing my cheeks,
taking my soul and bones
Till everything is gone.
I wake up eternally,
without any friends,
a friend is a gift from God,
and what's left is just the cold.

I have chosen to write a poem on friends, in a free verse form. Friends to me are one of the most important people in my life. They give you hope,care and support and without them I have lost everything in life. Friends mean everything to me and we must cherish them while we can. This was what sparked me to write this poem.
