Poetry to Me
Father and son
By the stream
What a very beautiful scene!

Then they came across a tree
Whose bark was totally green!

The son was confused
He’s never seen such a thing
He turned to his father and asked:
“Why is this?”

The father examined the tree for a while
Then down the 50-mile stream he looked 5 miles
And saw a 5-foot tall totem
So he made a conclusion.

“What a coincidence!
Don’t you think?
Are these repetitions of fives
Five starts with ‘F’
And ‘F’ comes before ‘G’
Are you still following me?”
‘G’ is the starting letter of ‘green’
That is why the tree’s bark is green!”

The son was confused
He was very, very bemused
But he decided to close his mouth tight
Because the teacher is always right!

Now the son wore wool boots
That out of the blue started to moo!

The son was confused
He’s never seen such a thing
He turned to his father and asked:
“Why is this?”

The father thought for a while
And imagined a pile
Of cow meat that smelt all foul!

“Cows moo, son
Cows poo, son
Your shoes smell like poo
Thus they also moo!”

The son was confused
He was very, very bemused
But he decided to close his mouth tight
Because the teacher is always right!

The author's comments:

I wrote this poem because I find English Literature weird and boring. The teacher can some how find weird reasons to explain every tiny thing in a poem.
