Would you lie with me?
Would you lie with me? -
I remember how we used to pass the hours with each other
laying in the grass on my ratty picnic blanket
watching the clouds pass
lazy kisses and fluttering eyelids
but now it’s winter and the leaves have died
and the grass has frost on it
and everything’s a less perfect version of what it used to be.
Every once in awhile I catch myself dreaming
of summer days and blissful oblivion
and I wonder if I went to that hill
where we rolled around on our picnic blanket
kissing like no one could see us
and laughing like no one could hear us
if i went back to that place on this cold winter day
I wonder if you’d lay with me again
I’d make you hot chocolate, I swear
Because I’ve realized it can’t be summer all of the time
and life is so much more than a walk in our favorite park
