Where I'm From
I am from scraped knees, from black feet and dora band aids.
I am from the pink bedroom, the toy scattered halls.
I am from Sunday morning cartoons, and "5 more minutes".
I am from the fights with my sister and forced apologies.
From "never start something you can't finish" and pinky promises.
I am from Packer Sundays, which might as well been church.
I am from long rides up north and the amish bakery.
I am from the swing set in the back yard, and the dandelions picked "just for mom."
I am from bike rides, and lemonade stands.
From A Charlie Brown Christmas, pumpkin carving and family hikes.
I am from scrapbooks in the cabinet, with a lock on the door.
I am from family parties, with at least 40 in attendance.
From all these things, I am who I am today.
