Where I'm From
I am from shaking hands,
  and a pink ribbon mom.
  I am from the hospital,
where my mother got the life saving treatment she needed.
I am from the lake house,
  where I grew up...
I am from swimming in the summer,
from the babysitter coming to play.
I am from driving the boat,
  for the nighttime ride.
  I am from tubing,
  having boatloads of summer fun...
I am from trips up north,
  where I went scuba diving.
I am from trips out west,
  where I went skiing.
  I am from Presque Isle,
  where I rediscovered the outdoors...
I am from losing the family business,
  and trying to be strong.
I am from my mother’s cancer,
and crying until i can’t anymore.
  I am from moving on,
with the help of medication and shaking hands...
