One Night
One night I dreamt
Of how the sun
Could pour its light
Into a river that runs.
The water is deep,
Clean and rich.
But when darkness creeps in,
It drowns all the fish.
One night I dreamt
Of how the sun
Could shine so bright
In a world so dark.
Streets littered with bodies,
People shot to death.
Others struggling,
For one last breath.
One night I dreamt
Of how the sun
Could spread its warmth,
Make us unite as one.
But countries turned
On one another.
Now one man’s life
Means the death of his brother.
The end is near,
So I’ve been told.
Still the sun will shine
On the earth below.
