Self-Destruction
August 26, 2014
The poisonous words that are coming out your mouth sting my ears,
Lies, lies are all you can tell.
You've been hurt so much you can't tell the truth,
Can't open up, can't be you.
You've locked up your heart and thrown away the key,
Made all your friends your enemies.
You've played with fire, and you've been burnt,
And now, Now it's your turn.
Your turn to change, make a difference.
But you can't do that, because you can't face the facts,
That everyone was right,
That forgiveness is light.
But you won't do that because you just might like,
Just might love, just might rise above the ashes,
Just might throw away the burdened sashes,
That told you couldn't be, that told you to flee.
That told you, you were wrong,
That you couldn't sing your gleeful song.
You closed up, built a wall around your heart,
So no one could ever have a part.
So no one could come in, your shadow your only friend.
No one can get close to you, you walk alone,
Like the sun you burn.
You treat everyone with dis-concern,
Your words are like lashes from a belt.
Under your hate, they melt.

I was inspired by a speech that was given to my class about forgiveness. Some people hold hate in their hearts until they start to self distruct. It is in the point of view of a concerned friend or family member, to a person in need. I hope that people realize that when you don't let something go, it not only hurts you but the people the care about you also. The speaker is talking to their once bullied friend, recently turned into a bully.
