Reminiscence of Love

It's a paralyzing thing

When you know your actions were right

But your emotions were all wrong

When you want it all back

But it's already gone

Being happy and content is such a fleeting thing

But when the stars misalign

What a tragedy it brings

I am in love, the purest of kinds

Such a difficult treasure that is so hard to find

But it tears me apart

Each and every second that reveals

That I destroyed your heart.

The author's comments:

I had just opened a new message when the first line played through my head, and I determined I needed to grab my pen and paper. The previous summer had been such a cliche teenage love story for me, so of course there was much confusion, hurt, and longing for the past, but I had never articulated my emotions into a poem. I hope others find they can relate to the simplicity of the words, but the complexity of the meaning and are able to use it to reflect on their own lives.
