Fallen
We the people
Lost and confused
Losing touch with what was home
Failing to believe
What was right before our eyes,
But we were blind
That fear, and hate,
Could hide in the simplest of places
Cowering inside the human soul
To bubble up in a rage
When a back is turned
And trust is given
When those who dare
To stand and face the fury
Are crushed like pebbles
Under feet of frozen tears
Is it over, or just beginning?
Those who fell, beaten down
Are first to get back up
And stand again
For nothing more
Than satisfaction
Of a deed done
And a wrong righted
All is said and done, and
We can’t help but wonder
Who gets the last laugh now?
