Lost and Found
Starships are only in my mind
Because we the people don’t want to get high
So we set space aside
For you and me
I’m sorry I forget your name
But you seemed so special on that warm summer day
No, I’m sorry, it was winter
Man, if I can’t forget everything then why can’t I forget her
She’s just one girl
What do I care
My friends are always telling me there’s another billion out there
So therefore
I don’t need love, so I guess I‘ll quit keeping dreaming of
You and the future
No white picket fence, no four bedroom house, no five or six kids
That look like you, and act like you, and are like you, because they are part you
And part me
But first I need to think, because I still can’t see
If you are you how can you love me?
But either way you’re my everything
But if you love me when I hate me then somebody has to be
Wrong
But if you’re wrong that means
That you don’t need me and that means
I am nothing
So I hope I am something
To you
Because that’s all that matters
To me
Because when I see you I see starships in my mind
Because when I get around get around you I get a little high
I think I remember now
God, how I could I forget such a beautiful name
Because it’s the sound of my heartbeat the rush blood from my brain the pace my pulse keeps
Today is a better day because, yesterday I couldn’t remember your name
But today I do
So I can love and I can dream
About you and about me
Together, forever
And now I know why the caged bird sings
