The joyful pigeon sings a lullaby,

lands on my bald head,

and asks me if I am feeling better.

I respond with a false positive,

and the pigeon flies away.

The orange-bellied parrot chirps a note

sets foot upon my oxygen tank

and asks me if I am feeling worse.

I shrug my shoulders absentmindedly

and the parrot aimlessly walks around my room.

The onerous raven hisses a prayer

Perches at the foot of my white bed

And asks me if I have any regrets.

I nod my head

and the raven stares at me until I become nothing.

The albino vulture looks out at the proceedings,

considers my chilling body

and asks me if I lived a life worth living.

Pity that the final fowl never receives a proper response,

for its question seems to be the most important one of them all.

The author's comments:
Pigeon are so common, that they are taken for granted. As so, feeling well and healthy is taken for granted.

The Orange-Bellied Parrot is an extremely rare bird. As to most of us, pain is a rare sensation for our bodies to feel.

Ravens are often associated with death, or bad omens

The vulture is the cleanser of the animal kingdom, as so death is the cleanser of the human kingdom. The vulture stares death in the face, and does not fear it all. Humans should do the same.
