Love Is....
Love is all you need
That emotion or feeling that always escapes you
That exists within couples you see on the streets holding hands
Or within friends who are dating
Within others, always others
That feeling that escapes you because those people just don’t get you,
never you
Love is all you need
The love that cannot be caught with your bare hands
So you craft nets out of mascara and lip-gloss and cologne but you catch nothing
And you sing along to the songs on the radio
that you're supposed to understand at a certain point
The understanding that exists in others,
never you
Love is all you want
It's supposed to perfect your imperfect life
Or at least, that's what you've been told
But perhaps love isn't something you obtain
Perhaps it is the comfort that comes with being understood by someone you understand
But that takes too much time and effort for the thing that should quickly fix your sad life
And so it will continue to be a thing that exists in others, and never you
