I've felt it.
The cold.
It comes from the inside out.
Pushing its way through to every surface.
Its thirsty.
Its hungry.
It sucks and devours every happy thought.
Every ounce of energy.
Nothing is right when it's inside,
The cold monster from my mind.

I don't let it know it gets to me.
I won't let it sniff out my fear.
I ignore it.
It won't go away if I try.
I ignore it.

It loses interest.
It does not bother hunting because I will not run.
It does not go in for the kill because I play dead.
It stays inside,
The cold monster from my mind.

It may be strong,
but I have caged it.
