As I Watched My Friends Die
As I watched my friends die
I did not feel anything,
nor did I wonder why they made the
decisions they did,
why they chose to leave so early
and altogether at once
without warning
like a raging fire
once burning with passion, now distinguished to
nothing but ashes.
With the light absent from
their eyes
and their lungs rock hard
they left me in search to reach new heights
and leave behind the vicious world we all hated.
Now that they’re gone
they found the fire once again
engulfing their
broken souls
while I
just
watched.
