Pawtuckaway's Poem

July 14, 2014

I awake to the sound of rustling trees and the smell of dew resting on their leaves.
I awake to the sight of an array of warmth: the sun rising in the East

I spend the day light hours laying in the water and singing with the birds to make me feel calmer
I spend the daylight hours in the shadows of oak and pine.
I wonder why life couldn't always be this fine.
I spend the daylight hours watching the sun rise to it's zenith in the sky.

I sleep to the sound of a fire's crackle and the rustic smell of it's rising smoke.
I sleep to the sight of galaxies above; I wonder what I will dream of.
My final thought was one of the best, which is the picture of the sun as it sets in the West.

I wrote this poem about my time camping at a campground in New Hampshire when I went last summer with my family. It's a really important place to me, and this poem is one of my favorites! It's my first time submitting any of my writing to anything, so I'm a bit nervous! Thanks for reading!
