Lying in bed
Rain was the forecast for tonight
Waiting for the rain
The inevitable, yet inaudible pitter-patter
I want to hear the rain again

Quiet stillness
Then the twang of a cloud’s tear
Music on a tin roof
The rousing, riveting roar of rain that shakes the house
Leaves me wanting to hear the rain again

O, enchanting rain
Soothe my heart’s tears with your rhythmic song
I miss your sound
Our tin-less roof withholds your harmony from my ears
Oh, how I want to hear the rain again

The author's comments:
I recently moved countries. Where I lived before, we had an old fashioned tin roof, and I loved it when it rained because of the loud sound it would make. In America now, we don't have a tin roof, and I can't tell when it's raining because I can't hear it. This poem is to describe the sadness of not being able to hear the rain but also missing my old home.
