Beyond
If you stay in one place for too long
don't you feel imprisoned?
Can being stuck in one place silence your song
and leave you dull and void?
Can my home be a jail cell
and these green fields a prison yard?
Knowing what lies beyond the village's green dell
I can only ask, "Life, from this hand
pick a card that will show me
new nations, new cities, new cultures, I demand
something beyond what I know- something I have yet to see..."
With this knowledge, would I be content?
Would the sun not glare down me
as it would in the desert?
Would a world tour be the key
to make my mind a powerful plane, a dimension
of creativity?
Will I more appreciate what I have now?
