Flat on the Ground
You told me that we’d be together forever
Well I should have put that on a letter and made you sign it
Because forever to you was a very short time
Was there a sign I should have seen
I guess I was to naïve to think this would actually work
I should’ve known boys are jerks and this is what they do
You knew everything about my depression
I should’ve thought to ask more questions before you kissed my untouched lips
I should’ve memorized a scrip before I told you I loved you
How come I couldn’t realize this was never coming through
And that love to you was just something you could get to
I was too blind to see
All the pain you used to hurt me
Now it’s just me against the world
And I guess I have to learn to be okay with that
Before you let me down and on the ground flat I fell
