Silence
Has been my best friend
For as long
As I can possibly remember
Silence
Has been my constant companion
My only confident
My only solace
Silence
Has been there for me
When everyone else
Was not
Silence
Gives me time
Is understanding that
I do not wish to speak just yet
Silence
Takes the place
Of endless words
And white noise
Silence
Is a blessing
That blankets the earth
In peace and quiet
Silence
Will suffocate
All those
Who wish to be heard
