You Did
I escape to my happy place
again
Where I'm free from pain and agony
for a few precious moments
"Let it go, let it go," they said,
"you overreact too much."
If only they knew
The suffering I hide behind my lifeless eyes,
the hopeless lies I tell myself every morning,
saying I'll be okay.
But I won't,
cos I'm not.
The things I hide
How I fake a smile
Just so I seem okay,
to the curious eyes that always seem
to judge me
The words that always break me
and bring me down
to my knees,
making me cry out, "Please, just
let me be."
All I ever wanted was to be free
and to accept myself
but with your words cutting
my skin like a razor-edged knife
it's hard to tolerate
the scars I wear
like tattoos
when all you do is judge me
when you put them there,
when you made me fail
and make me cry myself to sleep
when you made me realize I was worthless
and stupid and fake and lifeless
Is that what you wanted?
To succeed into witnessing a once beautiful
soul shatter into a million unfixable pieces?
Because you did.
