Toxic

Peach flavored cigarettes, endless nights full of morning regrets
I fell asleep with a different boy every month
They say pick your poison
And so I did
Whether it was vodka bottles or hope
But they didn't want me
Outside their car, outside the dark, outside drunkenness
I blew toxic smoke, drank toxic courage, stayed up all night with toxic boys
Running through the streets, sleeping on couches, laughing and crying and throwing up and touching
I fell asleep in his arms and then I fell asleep in the dirt
Twisted smiles, driving drunk, flashing lights, broken condoms and broken promises
I picked my poison
And now I'm toxic too.

This piece is about the loss of innocence and the loss of the person I aspired to become.
