Dreading The Moment
The shadow of an answer soon to be lit.
But still asked because you want to be spared the pain and forget.
It is known but it is not seen,
your heart knows but your mind plays a dream.
The answer is pointed to but your soul grasps only what you want.
While again the mind knows but still is nonchalant.
An act of denial is found guilty in your head.
One where the thoughts have replayed the things the other had said.
Haunted by this dilemma at the fault of your own.
Falling for those three words that were said more than they were shown.
Stuck clinging to your very last breath,
hoping they'll stay and try their very best.
Wondering where their next step will be,
or if their words will cut you down slowly.
Dreading each moment up until they'd spoken.
Afraid if their words would rip you open.
The fear itself takes shape and is all too real.
Debating the choices possible in this deal.
Scared of the suspense of seeing the end.
Losing your one and only, your love, your best friend.
To finally come to the realization of being embraced and chosen,
or shot down in tears and left completely heart broken.
