Remember
I can’t remember many things
like the whisper of wind or the swaying of trees.
I can’t remember many things
yet I remember you.
I recall whispered secrets in the dark,
and a fortress lit by candles
a burning sun and butterflies,
and angels born from snow
I remember your cloak of innocence
your smile fierce and bright
your joyous laughter ringing loudly
as we talked throughout the night
Yet one dark day you were not here
although I searched both far and near
into the sky and on the ground–
I looked, though you were never found
Alas! dear friend, I miss you so,
I miss your footprints in the snow,
sharing secrets in the night,
your joyous smile, fierce and bright.
I thought to see you safe and sound,
but you had gone beneath the ground.
I searched for you both near and far–
yet you were never found.
