Obsession
All they aspire to be is perfect, poise and proper
They aren’t happy with themselves
Even the boys
We grow up in a perfection obsessed world
What else do they know?
They have to impress
They have to be perfect
But I want do something without having to fix my skirt and hair
Every,
Single,
Second,
Of the day.
Sometimes you can hear them whisper
Their words sharp like knives.
Even I wish something was different about myself,
My freckles,
But, I remind myself
That a person without freckles is
Like a night without stars
Imagine the night without stars,
Light,
And beauty would vanish.
Would you want that gone?
I Stand in front of my mirror
and it hurts to look at my stubby nose
Or my flat chest.
I’ll suck it up
And put it away
In the drawer
That is gone and lost,
Forever.
You should try it too.
