Quitting
We've all been scared. We start our lives in a shell. Knowing nothing except the walls. And it's like that for a little. Then it's out to the world. With your protector, best friend, your rock and the staple that keeps you to the wall. All in one person. For a period in your life they will love you, feed you, shelter you, discipline you, and guide you. And then they're gone. You're set off into the world, feeling ready. You think that you know, and all they do is break you. And break you. And break you. Until you are shattered. And then, it hits you. Literally and mentally. And it breaks you. Crushes every bit of you. It makes you want to quit. Quit school. Work. Life. You believe no one would care if you were gone. They call you selfish because you wish to take your life. But you say to them, "When I die, don't you dare come to my funeral. Don't say you'll miss me. Don't put flowers on my grave. Because you're the reason I'll be six feet under. And you'll be haunted, convicted, wondering if I'll ever rest in peace." And with your strong defense, they buzz off. But there's one person. Persistent. Refusing to let you go. They'll make you feel good. About yourself. Make you want to stay. But you think they're just words without emotion. Puppy eyes. You push them away. They keep coming back. Constant. Then you are face to face with reality. This is no fake. It's real. They're there for you. They always have been. They love you. It is then you realize why you can't go. Life has brought you someone. The road ahead is going to be bumpy. At least now, you have someone to accompany you. Through good, bad, pretty, and ugly. And they won't let you quit.
