The Reasons I Dance
The old floor at the studio is unforgiving
When my feet touch the wood I feel like I’m living
My hair keeps falling into my face
I can’t keep up with the music’s pace
The counts are beginning to run together
My head feels as light as a feather
My tights rip
My feet slip
The bars squeak with every grip
But
The feeling of moving in time to the beat
of losing myself in the rhythm
The laughter
The music
And rosin that sticks
The friends
The memories
The reasons I dance
