There is no comment, nothing to like
About the misspoken beauty of
8 am Sunday morning.
As dusty sunlight crinkles
Against the drawn curtains,
Filtering into a Mayfair pink,
You choose, instead, to open the window
Of your phone. To feed
Your insatiable hunger for company
In a place where every minute complexity
Of your life is summarized
Into neatly bordered photos
And succinct statuses of your day.
Unaware that your mind
Is whittling down
To one-forty
Characters
Or less.

I wanted to write this piece to talk about the prevalence of technology in our daily lives. We are so consumed by the social media around us, so hungry to be constantly connected that it changes how we perceive our daily lives until we suddenly find ourselves disconnected from the world around us.
