I Forgot Where I Was Going With This
I don’t know what we are
Or what we were
Or if we were ever anything
Or ever will be anything
I don’t know how you feel about me
Or if you remember the way I can never focus
Or the songs I sing along to in the front seat of your car.
I don’t know if you’ve ever dreamed
About the color of my eyes
Or stayed awake remembering
The feel of my lips against your own.
Sometimes I can still feel
The flames of your fingers
Dancing across my skin
And setting me on fire.
I feel your tongue tracing patterns across my milk white flesh
I hear your laugh around every corner
And look for you at the end of every hallway.
I hate the fact that the flames of your fingers
Left burn marks on my untouched skin.
And that your jacket still smells like you.
And that you became my favorite song to sing.
I forgot where I was going with this.
I just really miss you.
